Cycle C Weekday Readings Year 2

Sunday 25 July – 17th Sunday of the Year

Growth in Prayer and Reflective Living

offered by the Epiphany Group of Spiritual Directors in Scotland.

In offering this 20 week course we want to help people to pray and to live reflectively.

We hope that it will be an opportunity to explore faith, discover meaning, and come to a deeper, closer relationship with God and also an opportunity to examine hopes and desires and to move towards the fullness of life we long for in ourselves, in those around us, and in the global community to which we all belong.

Course Content
Different ways of praying taken from Ignatian, Celtic and other spiritual traditions. These include coming to stillness, praying with scripture and imaginative contemplation.
Awareness of our different perceptions of God. The use of a journal and the value of self-awareness as aids to reflective living
Prayer experienced through music, art and movement.
An introduction to Ignatian discernment, through which a person may come to make choices which celebrate the unique giftedness conferred on them by the Creator

Method
The method is experience-based and reflective. It includes small group sharing. Towards the end of the course there is a short retreat.

In addition to the weekly group meetings participants are offered the opportunity of one to one spiritual accompaniment.

A five week Retreat in Daily Life follows the course in April / May and is an option for those wanting to deepen their experience further.

Who is the Course for?
The course is intended for those of different denominations and none. No particular ability in prayer is required, only a desire for God.

Participants should be prepared to share some of their experience of prayer with others. Also, because of the participatory nature of the course, it is important that there is a commitment to attend regularly.

The course will take place in:
Christ Church, Morningside Road,Holy Corner, Edinburgh
