Volunteering Role Descriptor
Role:
Cleaner
Description of Role:
The role of the cleaner in the Church is an important one. Inevitably dirt and dust is carried in to the building by parishioners and so it is necessary to vacuum, dust and polish the Church to keep it in good order.
In St. Peters this work is carried out by a dedicated band of 12 who are split into 3 teams of 4
The task is not difficult consisting of sweeping and dusting the Sanctuary, vacuuming between the pews, dusting the pews, cleaning the glasswork in the "children's chapel" when necessary and generally making sure all is clean and tidy within the body of the Church Outside we tidy up leaves and sweep the courtyard. The teams carry out the work on Thursday or Friday mornings from 9.30 a.m. (Twice a year, at Easter and Christmas, the choir loft is swept and dusted.)
Time Required:
If you decided to join the teams your commitment would be, at most, 45 minutes once every six weeks.
