Out Reach- Open Door

 

The Open Door is a registered charity for ecumenical outreach. It offers support and companionship for older people and those with special needs in the local community, through clubs and a variety of activities. The café is open to the general public. Volunteers work shifts (2½hrs in the café or 4hrs in the clubs) on a weekly basis, or whenever suitable.

Role:
To represent St Peter's Parish on a weekly basis, Description of Role:
The role of the volunteer is to give their services for the day to day work of the outreach which offers support and companionship for older people and those with special needs in the local community. This is done through clubs and a variety of activities. Volunteers also help in the cafe which is open to the general public and are responsible to the manageress.

Support Provided:
The Board of Directors meets bi-monthly and promptly if urgent action is required.

Time Required:
Volunteers are committed to at least one 2 and a half hour shift per week.

Gifts and Talents:
Volunteers should be able to create a relaxed, welcoming, helpful, friendly atmosphere. To offer information, advice or a sympathetic ear to anyone who comes to the Open Door.
