Liturgy - Readers
There is a rota of readers, who welcome the congregation to Sunday Mass, and give the readings and bidding prayers. Volunteers may expect to read perhaps 4 times per year.

Role:
Scripture Reading at Sunday Mass together with Recitation of Bidding Prayers Provided
Responsible to:
Fr Kerr or designated representative
Description of Role:
Before Sunday Mass to extend a welcome from the lectern
To read the Scriptural passages for that Sunday
To read the Responsorial Psalm and the Gospel Acclamation when required.
To recite the Intercessions from the Bidding Prayers provided.
Support provided:
The coordinator will advise the reader whether the Psalm and the Acclamation require to be read on a given Sunday – on occasion these parts are sung by the choir instead.
A “Readers Rota” is prepared every few months and contains the phone numbers of team members to allow exchange of dates.
Time required:
Undertaking Reader’s duties once or twice every 3 months.
Readers may add their names to the Availability sheets to suit their individual circumstances.
Gifts and talents:
Reasonable strong voice with clear enunciation.
